My yarn project...

I've started looking into getting my own wool spun. Or rather someone else's wool, but I will arrange to get it made in to year so that I know which farm in the lakes it comes from. I have been speaking to farmers in the Lakes and hopefully I can use one of theirs. It will be costly though, but very worthwhile. Watch this space!

Knitting my way through the Pyrenees

I've just finished walking the GR11 long-distance route through the Pyrenees from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. This is me knitting in Elizondo in Euskadi (The Basque Country).

Playing around with wool

I've spent the weekend playing around with my Eco wool. I love it. I'm trying to knit some hiking socks for my neice, Sarah, so we can go hiking up Helvellyn in the summer. I'm thinking of knitting HELVELLYN 2008 in the pattern. That would be kind of cool? Not sure if SHE would think that though!!

Back from the Lakes

Had a great time climbing Fairfield and the gorge at Dungeon Ghyll. Plenty of young lambs jumping about in the fields. Did a spot of knitting up on Fairfield in the sun.

Off to the Lakes for May Bank Holiday

Hoping to get over to the Lakes to get some Herdwick wool. Herdwick? They are the sheep of the Lake District, fantastic things they are. Here is a group from Borrowdale.

Their fleece comes in shades of black, grey and white.
